Live music

Best southeast cities for music aficionados

“Where should we go tonight?”

That question stumps the best of us from time to time. Deciding on something to do can be tough, sometimes because there are too many choices and other times because there are not enough. It’s hard to go wrong with live music. Whether it is a band in your local watering hole or orchestra at a concert hall, live music can help you discover a genre you never knew you liked or just plain make an evening a whole lot of fun. How do you find which cities have the kind of live music scene you might be looking for? You could start googling it, but that is a very time-consuming and tedious process.

One that we have already done for you.

New Orleans, LA – New Orleans tops our list.  It has over 100 live music venues, almost double of any other city.  That’s not completely surprising since it also has the most bars and nightclubs too.  New Orleans is the place to be in the Southeast for people who like music.

Atlanta, GA -While Atlanta ranks far down the list for live band music venues, it has more than twice as many orchestras and choirs for classical music lovers.  So if classical music or choirs are your thing, Atlanta has plenty of options.

Anderson, SC – The other two cities on our list are very large cities and maybe you would expect them to have a great live music scene.  That’s what makes our third city so interesting.  With a population of only 27,011, Anderson, South Carolina is 1/20 the size of the other cities, but with 28 live music venues and local orchestras and choirs, Anderson has one of the best live music scenes in the Southeast.

Maybe you are thinking that none of these cities sound just right. Or maybe a great live music scene isn’t the only thing that should be considered when relocating.  That’s why we created the NextDiggs quiz so that you can decide what features are “the best”  for you.  We profiled every city in America with 5000 or more residents with 61 criteria.  You can choose to answer all the questions, or only the ones pertaining to criteria that are important to you.  So go ahead and take the quiz and find your own “top 3”.
